Volleyball - (Team & Individual Sports)
During this unit students will further explore the rules, skills, and concepts of volleyball through team practice and competition. The focus will be on team play, strategy and game understanding, while also emphasizing team concepts including communication, cooperation, and effort. Weight Room Activities - (Fitness) During this unit students will have access to all fitness concepts learned throughout the semester, including weight training, cardiovascular endurance, and more. Weight room workouts will include concepts of strength training and functional fitness, allowing students to build off previous work within the fitness category or learn new concepts. Students will be able to choose options within the weight room unit to meet their individual goals.

Volleyball - (Team & Individual Sports)
During this unit students will learn the rules, skills, and concepts of volleyball through team practice and competition. Weight Room Activities - (Fitness) During this unit students will have access to all fitness concepts learned throughout the semester, including weight training, cardiovascular endurance, and more. Students will be able to choose options within the weight room unit to meet their individual goals. Strength Training - (Fitness)
Students will learn basic strength training concepts with a concentration on functional fitness and foundational multi-joint movements. During the unit students will learn how to perform the core movements and practice them within workouts of their choice. CPR - (Wellness) Students will learn the basic skill of adult/child/infant CPR, how to use an AED, and the skills to help a choking victim. Material will be presented using the American Heart Association Heartsaver program. Students have to option of getting certified; the certification costs $22 for card processing. Basketball - (Team & Individual Sports) During this unit students will learn the rules, skills, and concepts of basketball through small-sided competitive games and skill specific games. The focus will be on skill improvement and game understanding, while also emphasizing fitness concepts including cardiovascular benefits and effort. Strength Training - (Fitness)
Students will learn basic strength training concepts with a concentration on functional fitness and foundational multi-joint movements. During the unit students will learn how to perform the core movements and practice them within workouts of their choice. Bowling - (Recreational Activities) During this unit students will learn the rules, scoring, and game play of bowling. The focus will be on learning the basics of this lifelong activity, and how students can participate in it after their time in high school. Spin Cycling - (Fitness) During this unit students will have access to various spin cycle workouts in the fitness room. Workouts will emphasize cardiovascular endurance. Bikes are limited, students may use other cardio equipment if all bikes are occupied. Strength Training - (Fitness)

Non-Traditional Team Games - (Recreational Activities) These games are a collection of non-traditional team games that incorporate concepts of team play, movement patterns, and fitness. The focus of the unit will be on effort and participation. The games in this unit will include gatorball, ultimate frisbee, tchoukball, kickball, and others. Spin Cycling - (Fitness) During this unit students will have access to various spin cycle workouts in the fitness room. Workouts will emphasize cardiovascular endurance. Bikes are limited, students may use other cardio equipment if all bikes are occupied. Ropes Course - (Recreational Activities)
Students will participate on the challenge course, completing low element group activities that focus on teamwork and communication. The focus of each activity will be for students to challenge themselves, take risks, and work with the group to complete each element. For a description of the elements visit the challenge course page. Students should be prepared to be outside even during inclement weather! Group Fitness/Weight Room - (Fitness) The focus of this unit will be on group fitness activities and weight room concepts. Group fitness activities will include TRX suspension training, zumba, and spin cycling. Weight room workouts will include concepts of strength training and functional fitness, allowing students to build off previous work within the fitness category or learn new concepts. Students will be able to choose either option within the weight room unit. Golf - (Team & Individual Sports)
During this unit students will learn the rules, scoring, and skills of golf. The focus will be on learning the basics of this lifelong activity, and how students can participate in it after their time in high school. Weight Room Activities - (Fitness) During this unit students will have access to strength training workouts and cardio options. Weight room workouts will include concepts of strength training, functional fitness, and mobility, allowing students to improve their overall fitness. Cardio options will include walking/jogging outside (weather permitting) and spin cycling in the classroom. Students will be able to choose options within the weight room unit to meet their individual goals. Strength Training - (Fitness)
Students will learn basic strength training concepts with a concentration on functional fitness and foundational multi-joint movements. During the unit students will learn how to perform the core movements and practice them within workouts of their choice. Rec Games - (Recreational Activities) Rec games is a collection of traditional PE games that incorporate concepts of team play, movement patterns, and fitness. The focus of the unit will be on effort and participation. The games in this unit will include crazy kickball, protect the fort, hector the protector, watusi, and others. Spin Cycling - (Fitness) During this unit students will have access to various spin cycle workouts in the fitness room. Workouts will emphasize cardiovascular endurance. Bikes are limited, students may use other cardio equipment if all bikes are occupied. Soccer - (Team & Individual Sports)
Students will learn the basic rules and skills of the game of soccer through game play and skill development activities. The focus will be on skill improvement, game understanding, and effort. Soccer will take place indoors and outdoors, be prepared for both! Strength Training - (Fitness) Students will learn basic strength training concepts with a concentration on functional fitness and foundational multi-joint movements. During the unit students will learn how to perform the core movements and practice them within workouts of their choice. Walking/Jogging - (Fitness) Students will practice various cardio activities and learn how to build a program progression throughout the unit. Options will include walking/jogging outside (weather permitting) and cardiovascular equipment in the weight room. Students walking/jogging outside will track their progress and results using the 'Map my Run' app. Rec Games - (Recreational Activities)
Rec games is a collection of traditional PE games that incorporate concepts of team play, movement patterns, and fitness. The focus of the unit will be on effort and participation. The games in this unit will include wiffleball, tennis baseball, capture the stuff, and kickball. Weight Room Activities - (Fitness) During this unit students will have access to all fitness concepts learned throughout the semester. Weight room workouts will include concepts of strength training and functional fitness, allowing students to build off previous work within the fitness category or learn new concepts. Cardio options will include walking/jogging outside (weather permitting) and group fitness in the classroom. Students will be able to choose options within the weight room unit to meet their individual goals. |
