PE student Leader Program


The Physical Education department offers students who have excelled in the areas of health, wellness, and physical activity the opportunity to participate in the PE Student Leader Program. Students in this program lead and instruct activities and units, complete special projects, mentor peers, or assist the PE teachers. To be a part of the PE Student Leader Program students must complete an application or be recommended by a teacher. 

Pe Student leader criteria


Students who are interested in the PE Student Leader Program must meet criteria listed below....

Completed at least 2 semesters of Lifetime wellness
displays a Genuine interest in health, wellness, and fitness
possesses a basic understanding of wellness concepts and terms
demonstrates an ability to work independently and be self-motivated
demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to lead peers

activity leader

Students instruct and facilitate an activity that they possess a level of expertise. 

STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE TO LEAD ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE ABLE TO....
  •  DEFINE THEIR LEVEL OF EXPERTISE IN THE CHOSEN AREA
  • DEVELOP A PLAN FOR WHAT CONTENT, SKILLS, ACTIVITIES WILL BE COVERED IN THE UNIT
  • PROVIDE OUTCOMES THAT WILL BE ACHIEVED BY PARTICIPANTS

special projects

Students complete special projects that help to promote health, wellness, and fitness among the student body, faculty, or school-wide.

STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE TO COMPLETE A SPECIAL PROJECT SHOULD BE ABLE TO....
  • DESCRIBE THEIR PROJECT IN DETAIL
  • DEFINE HOW THEIR PROJECT WILL PROMOTE HEALTH, WELLNESS, AND FITNESS
  • PROVIDE OUTCOMES THAT WILL BE ACHIEVED BY PARTICIPANTS 

assist pe teachers

Students will assist the PE teachers with current units and daily activities or prepare materials, equipment, or programs for future units.

STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE TO ASSIST PE TEACHERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO....
  • DEMONSTRATE A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF CONCEPTS AND TERMS
  • DISPLAY A GENUINE INTEREST IN HEALTH, WELLNESS, AND/OR FITNESS
  • POSSESS A DESIRE TO PURSUE A CAREER IN WELLNESS

mentor peers

Students will mentor peers who need assistance to complete course objectives and activities.

STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE TO MENTOR PEERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO....
  • DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF UNIT ACTIVITIES AND MATERIALS
  • DEMONSTRATE LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND THE ABILITY TO LEAD PEERS​​
